print design

Here are some examples of my design work for print.

Literature: I was supplied with a only few paragraphs of text and asked that each topic filled a separate sheet of A4 - A few carefully chosen stock shots and some creative typography later, and this was my solution.

loading

Branding: A rebrand for Manor Concepts - constructors of commercial refrigeration units. The brief was to put their refrigeration units in a more appealing setting.

creative thinking

Here are some examples of creative solutions in answer to specific briefs.

loading

Closed Loop
The brief was to show the impact recycling could have on our roads. I went out and took several photographs of the A1. From these, I made two identical shots - except one was full of vehicles whilst the other was completely empty. The effect when opening the gatefold leaflet, is that the road completely 'clears' reinforcing the message in the text.

Universal Music monthly samplers.
Previous covers for these had been plain and text based. Universal wanted something more colourful - that changed each month, but did not want the cost of a redesign each time. My solution was to use this one stock shot, change the saturation in photoshop and add a different image to the TV each time.

loading

BMG samplers.
BMG wanted a generic cover for one-off CD samplers, but wanted some way of making each one different. My solution was this die-cut CD sleeve. This meant that a single insert could be printed (rather than an entire CD package every time). The different colours on the inserts then show through giving the illusion of a different cover each time.

loading

Strapline writing.
Your autochoice had a 'recommend us to a friend and receive £50 when they sign up' offer. They were looking for a simple way to get this across. I came up with 'Mirror. Signal. Manouevre'

loading

Strapline writing.
Dynamite Park were a web company who wanted to remove some of the mystery about what website customers were getting for their money. They came up with this shopping list idea. I came up with the strapline 'We don't make up your website prices - you do!' to highlight that the customer now had a choice.

loading

Cardboard City.
Display Cor manufacture cardboard POS items. They'd constructed the giant robot to show off their technical capabilities, so I created a cardboard city (out of their POS models) for him to terrorize.

loading

Clap-banner.
This special custom Clap-banner was created to form the shape of a cola bottle when folded.

loading

CD Cover.
This CD sampler featured unusual cover versions of songs by famous artists. Authorizing shots for all of the artistes involved would have been too costly - so this was my solution.

loading

Book Cover.
This book tells the story of a modern day gang member who travels back in time and encounters Liverpool's infamous 'High Rip gang'. I came up with this cover which literally rips the protagonist through time.

loading

POS.
A self explanatory idea for a point-of-sale display for Sharp televisions.
